I read a annotate on youtube proverb that motherboards really consume power. Sounds a footling weird to me since I thought motherboards were really only a piece of pcb. Can anyone ostend this? Besides, I am edifice a pc right now, so I if they really exercise use up wattage, how much practice they employ? Is it something I should take into account when buying a power supply or is information technology negligible?
Give thanks you for your help!

e'er see a chip on a mobo? that uses power! for example - all of the ram modules. the Z87 chipset. the marvell sata controller chipset. the PLX chip on some larger boards.
I usually assume 50W for the mobo stuff (which includes ram, but doesn't include CPU). it's not verbal but it's "close plenty for rock n roll"

The CPU and GPU is what you should accept into account when buying a power supply, cause they are the most enervating parts of PCs, related to mobos consuming power is but pure mutual sense( if it does non consumes power then why plugging an PSU to it?), so yes, they definatlely consume ability. To exist more specific they uses 12/5/and 3,3 voltages for the diferent mobo parts such every bit USBs,CPU socket,RAMS,etc..so in that location is power consumption.

On average, a gaming motherboard uses 45Watts. PC Parts Picker can help decide how much your power supply should be able to handle.

Do motherboards eat power
Do people work for gratuitous? Is the Pope catholic?
Only y'all are right, for the purpose of buying PSU, you tin ignore what the Mobo, by itself, consumes.
