Proficient idea, even so ATV4K and some Roku devices have had 5.1 on select VOD content for a while now, and then hopefully this thread won't be littered with posts from folks merely discovering that. People should simply post if they are seeing five.i on live/DVR content or VOD content on a device that never previously had v.1 (i.e., CCw/GTV).
level 2
It must be very "select" VOD content on ATV4K because I've never seen 5.1 on any VOD.
level 1
I was expecting a list in this stickied thread... At that place'southward nothing hither to exist stickied.
level 2
It'due south probably meant to prevent a painful trickle of threads announcing new devices from taking up infinite over the coming weeks.

Why would they roll out to smart television set'southward first? How many of them are actually continued to a five.1 surround system? Curious….

Nearly Television receiver's are smart nowadays. I've got a TCL Roku that is eARC to my Denon receiver.

I hateful, my smart Tv is connected to a surroundings audio system.. Samsung QLED from a couple years back, connected via optical to a Yamaha environs from about 10 years agone. Dolby Digital works just fine, though DD+ does not work (for most streaming services this hasn't been an issue though, basically anything but HBO Max works).
The built-in Samsung Tizen software on that Television works MUCH better than the Fire Stick I have installed on the upstairs non-smart Telly.
level 2
My Visio is and I haven't got a 5.1 update yet

I promise it comes to the Chromecast with Google TV presently. With the exception of not being thrilled with the audio quality YT Idiot box has been working great for me since I ditched cablevision a few months ago.
level 2
amen to that.. i canceled later the trial for purely this reason. we take home surround audio systems here.. i like my 5.1

I accept YTTV on Google Television receiver/Chromecast. How tin can you decide if 5.1 sound is playing (other than listening to your speakers)? is there a menu item that you can check?
thanks

Safe to say no 1 has received 5.1 yet right?? "Soon" in googles timeline ordinarily ranges from months to years.
level 2
Zippo here yet on my ATV4K.
level ii
Non yet on my Burn stick 4K.
level ii
Not on my Roku tcl smart boob tube.
level 2

Normally I spotter YTTV on my Apple Tv set 4K. Merely based on this thread I tried my Samsung TV app. When it boots I am getting Dolby Digital in surround. Only when I switch to a alive boob tube programme, it stays in DD, just switches to stereo. And then something is going on, but even so no surround on live tv.
level 2
Coming back to this thread considering I besides picket YTTV on my Apple Boob tube 4K and tonight'south MLB All-Star Game is in 4K from Fox.
I can tell it's getting 5.1 because I don't have surroundings sound and am just getting the eye channel from YTTV on the 4K feed haha
level 1
Can we decide on a specific program or channel we tin can use to verify if it's working?
Getting Doubly Digital Plus ii.0 on Sony 900H going to Onkyo.
Samsung TV going to Sonos is showing 5.1
